Thanks For Making the 2009 Santa Runs a Success
The Atlantic Highlands First Aid Squad would like to thank everyone for making this year's Santa Runs another great success! Not only did Santa see the many smiling faces of children, he was able to collect over 200 items that were donated to the local food bank. Thanks again for all of your support and we'll see you again next year. Happy Holidays!

Atlantic Highlands First Aid Needs Your Help
Is your job as rewarding as helping a neighbor?
How about saving a life?
As a volunteer of the award-winning Atlantic Highlands First Aid & Safety Squad you can do all of that and more.
The AHFAS is looking to add to its membership roster for 2010 - a roster which in the past year has been identified as the best in the state of New Jersey and in 2009 was named EMS Magazine’s Gold Award winner.
“We’re doing well, but we can do even better,” said AHFAS chief Richard Huff. “We are actively seeking Atlantic Highlands residents to join the one of the most dynamic volunteer organizations in the country.”
The Atlantic Highlands First Aid & Safety Squad is now in its 80th year of providing free, around-the-clock emergency medical and rescue services to the residents of Atlantic Highlands and occasionally the surrounding areas. The organization handles emergencies large and small, on land, water, and ice. The organization maintains a marine unit to respond to calls in the harbor. There’s also a cadet group for younger members.

Santa Set To Ride With The Atlantic Highlands First Aid SquadATLANTIC HIGHLANDS – The elves at the Atlantic Highlands First Aid &
Safety Squad are once again preparing to help guide Santa Claus
through the borough.
The all-volunteer organization’s annual Santa Runs will get underway Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. and, weather permitting, will end Dec. 11. Each evening, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the squad’s ambulances will lead Santa on his sleigh through the streets of the borough, stopping to meet and mingle with families along the way. And, for the second consecutive year, the squad is building a food drive into the program. The organization is asking residents to donate non-perishable food items, which will then be delivered to area food banks. “Our effort to collect food as part of the Santa runs was an unqualified success last year,” said Richard Huff, chief of the AHFAS. “This year, the food pantry needs our help more than ever. We’re asking residents to donate whatever they can.” |
Atlantic Highlands First Aid Member Jerry Pandolfo named NJ Volunteer EMT of the YearATLANTIC HIGHLANDS – Jerry Pandolfo, a life member and past captain of
the Atlantic Highlands First Aid & Safety Squad, has been named the
2009 Outstanding Volunteer EMT-B by the New Jersey Department of
Health & Senior Services, Office of Emergency Medical Services.
Pandolfo has been a member of the squad since 1996, was captain multiple times, and is currently the organization’s vice president. He picked up the award Nov. 13 during the 11th Annual EMS Awards Banquet at the Sheraton Atlantic City Convention Center Hotel. The event capped the 2009 New Jersey Statewide Conference on EMS. "It's a great honor,” said Pandolfo. Pandolfo noted that many of the accomplishments that were mentioned in his nomination were part of a joint effort involving many people on the squad, and throughout the 11th District of the New Jersey First Aid Council. “So it is with them that I share this honor,” Pandolfo said. “Without the people around me I wouldn't be doing this.” |
