ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS – The Atlantic Highlands First Aid & Safety Squad was honored with the Best Apparatus Trophy at the 9th annual Highlands St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
The squad was part of nearly 100 units in the parade, which included bagpipers, marching bands, floats, fire trucks and ambulances from around the state.
AHFAS members Emily Veth, Bill Mount, Lance Hubeny, and Ed Cetron represented the squad in the event. Before stepping off, led by Veth, they decorated the squad’s new Horton 553A ambulance with shamrocks, St. Patrick’s Day messages and more. Irish music was also piped through the ambulance’s public address system for the ride down Bay Ave.
Also participating in the parade where members and apparatus from the Atlantic Highlands Fire Department.
Highlighting the parade were performances by The Henry Hudson Regional Marching Band and cheerleaders, the Monmouth County Police Pipes and Drums, the Ocean County Emerald Society, the Staten Island Pipe and Drum Band, the Middlesex County Police and Fire Pipes and Drums, the Union County Police and Fire Pipes and Drums, and many others.
